[Doctor Who Review] The Rings of Akhaten

the-rings-of-akhaten

2nd episodes for companions have followed a certain formula since Rose and #9 jaunted off. Save Cardiff in Episode 1 and go somewhere mind blowing in Episode 2.

The Rings of Akhaten falls somewhere between Love and Monsters and Fear Her on my I want my 40mins back Doctor Who scale of suck.

[Plotting About] March’s Metrics…

So with March gone, April 1st come and gone it’s to look at the ole metrics…

March started with Emerald City Comic Con and decided to change the gym routine so I’d get home by 7am.

Managed to read through Velvateen vs. The Junior Super Patriots, Hull Zero Three and rowing through Flood by Stephen Baxter.

This gives me enough time between breakfast and work to get some writing done.

The Where Weavers Daire K BAR count is:

Couple of links:

Camp NaNoWrimo began yesterday and yes I’m going to use it to finish the last 50k.

Joss Whedon’s top 10 Writing Tips.

Scrivener is one of the sponsors of Camp NaNoWrimo and let me say that if you looking to self publish your novel or Kickstart a project please get Scrivener or please learn about format your baby properly.

I bring this up because one of the Kickstarted novels I sponsored had a great cover and then you turn the page an the formatting in iBooks/Kindle was atrocious.

If you want to look professional then let’s looks professional. Google manuscript formatting. Create a M$ Word template. Or, get Scrivener. Learn Scrivener and press the compile button . . . and watch what happens when you check off the wrong button.

Lastly, time off from work for San Diego Comic-Con has been approved. So, posts showing assembling a Mal Reynolds or Doctor Who outfit will be forthcoming.

[Digital Freedom] The #veronicamars kickstarted…

Sometime before 9pm last night the official Veronica Mars movie was funded on Kickstarter.

And, it has 29 days to go.

I guess Veronica in Space is a go then?

I’ve funded a few things a Kickstarter, mostly books and even a H. P. Lovecraft con in Rhode Island.

So, will this open the doors to more projects and do what The Guild did for independent web series?

Excellent question.

Firstshowing.net‘s post covers most of the bases including the elephant in the room that is Firefly.

I think using Kickstarter to fund your project and Youtube to roll it you have a great one two punch just ask Geek & Sundary, Neridst and more.

The tools have been here for a while but the only thing one would need to worry about is the execution.

Good execution and you’ll blast it out of the park.

If you stumble and fall then it’ll be a costly learning experience but a experience none the less.

Wouldn’t mind seeing a Slingers Kickstarter project, the trailer looked fun.

[Snowmageddon] Nemo and RI…

The pre-game show is just like all other pre-game shows: Blah blah blah.

So, weather storm Nemo has arrived in Rhode Island and none of the weather channel people are in the littlest state with the longest name.

This means Rhode Island won’t get it that bad. Or not since they’re throwing around 30″ locally.

Personally, I’d perch someone up at Providence Park and another in Kennedy Plaza.

I vaguely remember looking out the window at the Blizzard of ’78.

I decided to go outside and take some photos. With RI/MA/CT all suspending travel I figured I’d walk down the end of the street. The last time I did this was years ago at my old apartment when the power went out and I took some time lapse photos.

The local NBC affiliate has had reporters out and they all said the same thing: it’s like bits of sand biting you.

I whole heartily agree with that assessment. Since I had to walk backwards to get back to my house the wind was so bad.

Have had several brown outs, the power dropped once then came back up but otherwise, so far so good.

And I’ll make sure I wear a hat next time.
